"Clean-up" covers a lot of ground, and the gap between what a client pictures and what a contractor quotes is where disputes start.
Tidy-up
Keeping a working site in order — sweeping, clearing access ways, consolidating waste into bins. Usually ongoing, priced by time.
Clear-out
Removing everything: accumulated waste, leftover materials, packaging, and whatever previous trades left. Priced by volume as much as by hours, because disposal is the bigger cost.
What moves the price
- Volume and weight — heavy material is charged differently to bulky light material.
- Whether it is sorted or mixed.
- Access — carrying to a street bin costs more than loading at the door.
- Whether disposal is included in the quote.
Getting an accurate price
Photos of the actual pile beat any description. Send a few and the quote will be much closer to the final invoice.
