Privacy Policy

TODO(client): this policy must be reviewed by a lawyer before launch. It is drafted to the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, not to GDPR.

This policy explains how UZI Contracting collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

A small business with an annual turnover under $3 million may fall outside the Privacy Act's coverage. UZI Contracting handles your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles regardless.

What we collect

When you request a quote or send an enquiry, we collect:

• Your name
• Your phone number
• Your email address, if you choose to give one — it is optional
• The job location (suburb and postcode)
• Your description of the job, preferred date and time, and any notes you add
• Any photos you upload of the job or site
• Your IP address, and which page you submitted the form from

We collect your IP address to limit automated abuse of our forms and to review suspected spam. We do not use it to track you across other websites.

Photographs you upload

Photos help us quote accurately. Location data (GPS coordinates) embedded by your phone is automatically removed from every photo before it is stored. Photos are visible only to UZI Contracting staff and are never published without your permission.

Why we collect it

To prepare and give you a quote, to contact you about your job, to carry out the work, and to keep records of the jobs we have quoted and completed. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing unless you ask us to.

Who we disclose it to

• Our own staff and the workers assigned to your job
• Subcontractors, where a job requires them
• Service providers who operate parts of this website on our behalf (see below)

Overseas disclosure

Some of the services that run this website are operated outside Australia, mainly in the United States. This means some of your information may be stored or processed overseas:

• Email delivery — quote notifications and confirmations are sent through an email provider located overseas.
• Spam protection — our forms use a bot-detection service which receives technical information about your visit.
• Maps — our contact page can display an embedded map, which loads from an overseas provider only when you choose to open it.

We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

How long we keep it

We keep quote requests and enquiries for as long as we need them for the job and for our business records. When information is no longer needed, we destroy or de-identify it, as required by APP 11.

How we store and secure it

Information is stored on servers we control, protected by access controls and encryption in transit. Only authorised staff can view quote requests. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.

Accessing or correcting your information

Under APP 12 and APP 13 you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Call us on 0450 704 884 and we will help.

Cookies

This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser may store small amounts of information needed for the site to work.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first and we will try to sort it out. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
