Short-term and ongoing labour are booked differently, and knowing which you need changes the conversation.
Short-term
A defined burst of work: a delivery, a clean, a strip-out, covering someone who has called in sick. Booked job by job, priced against that job.
Ongoing
Regular work across weeks or months. The advantage is continuity — the same people, who already know your site, your systems and your standards. Less briefing each morning, fewer mistakes, and generally better rates because the work is predictable.
Which to ask for
If you are running a build with a known programme, ongoing usually makes sense. If your work arrives unpredictably, short-term keeps you flexible. Plenty of clients start short-term and move to ongoing once they know the crew.
