What you need ready for a container unload

· 1 min read · Container Unloading

Unload delays are usually site delays, not crew delays.

Before the day

  • Confirm the delivery window and who is meeting the driver.
  • Check the approach — a container truck needs room to get in, turn and sit level.
  • Decide exactly where the stock is going. "Somewhere in the warehouse" costs you an hour.
  • Clear that space beforehand.

On the day

  • Forklift fuelled or charged, with a licensed operator available.
  • Pallets, trolleys and wrap on hand.
  • Clear, marked walkways separating people from plant.
  • Water and shade — containers get extremely hot.
  • Somewhere for the packaging waste to go as it accumulates.

Paperwork

Know who is signing and who is counting. Disputes about short deliveries are much easier to resolve at the door than a week later.
