What a White Card is and why every worker needs one

· 1 min read · Construction Workers

A White Card is the general construction induction card. In Western Australia, anyone carrying out construction work needs one before they set foot on site.

What the training covers

It is entry-level safety awareness rather than a trade qualification: identifying hazards, understanding safety signage, knowing your duty of care, what to do in an incident, and how to raise a safety concern.

What it is not

A White Card does not qualify anyone to operate plant, work at heights, handle asbestos or do high-risk work. Those need their own tickets and training. If a job needs a specific licence, that is a separate question to ask before booking.

Why it matters to you as the client

If you run the site, you carry duties for everyone on it. Asking whether workers hold current construction induction is a reasonable question and any decent provider will expect it.
